Music project well underway

So I have two tracks laid down with pre-production ideas and structure. I'm really looking forward to working on the other 2, possible 3, tracks that will be on my upcoming EP project that is being recorded at the Soundlounge Studio in Vancouver. Unfortunately, yesterday I earned myself a lovely concussion which was great fun (not really!). After this weekend though, it's back in Studio B for me to continue working on the two songs before fine tuning them in Studio A. Like I mentioned before, I will be producing, writing and mixing the songs myself with the help of Kirk Douglas who will be engineering and playing bass on the tracks. He will be training me how to mix and engineer tracks so I can someday, in the near future, work solo on sessions that come into the studio! It's an amazing opportunity and I'm really looking forward to learning more about both engineering and producing.

This photo was taken by my good friend Lin Aylward. The Jardines played at the East Vancouver Cultural Centre tonight, June 15th, and opened for Johnny DeMarco. It was a definite honour and fabulous opportunity to open for his band. More details about the event tomorrow!

Much love,

It's EP time!

It's been almost two since since I started to legit pick up the guitar and write songs... wow. Time really does fly by quickly. Recently, I had a wicked time shopping for guitars and found myself an acoustic Fender Kingmen with a sunburst solid top, a dreadnaught body with a cutaway, and a strat head piece. It's no Larrivee (omg those guitar are GORGEOUS) but I'm really happy with my new baby. So back to my point, I've been songwriting for almost two years now. I've written about everything and anything I have experienced or witnessed. This summer I'm recording my first EP project! I have around eleven completed songs that I am considering for the four track EP... I am very privileged to have some help from Kirk Douglas at Sound lounge studios and I will be ultimately producing, arranging and mixing the songs myself. It is definitely going to be a huge and awesome project and I will develop more engineering skills from Kirk so one day I will be able to take on recording sessions on my own.
